I just got this email and thought I would pass it along to you all...

Hi Kevin,

I just discovered Church 2.0, and I can see that you’re passionate about the use of technology for praise and worship. The NAB Show (http://nabshow.com) is a client of our communications firm, and I want to tell you about two exhibits that you and your readers may be interested in at this year’s show, coming up April 10-15 in Las Vegas.

The Technologies for Worship Pavilion offers comprehensive training for house of worship staff and technical volunteers and is the focal point for all things related to worship technology at the NAB Show. In addition, you may be interested in Destination Broadband - the newest broadband-centric exhibit at the 2010 NAB Show. It will be featuring technologies like online video platforms, streaming video, mobile video distribution, and much more.

Technologies for Worship Schedule: http://ow.ly/1fCqd
Destination Broadband: http://ow.ly/14hgA

The reason I'm reaching out to you is because I have a special registration code for you to pass along to your readers, giving them access to the show – a $150 value - for FREE. This special pass includes the exhibit floor, the Opening Keynote and State of the Industry Address, Info Sessions, Content Theater, Destination Broadband Theater and Exhibits. All you and your readers need to do is visit http://ow.ly/13TL9 to redeem or register at http://nabshow.com/register with the code A913.

Thanks, Kevin, and please let me know how I can help your coverage of the 2010 NAB Show on Church 2.0.   Don't forget to check out the official show website at http://www.nabshow.com for more information, news, and to register!

Thank you!

Own the Mix

Own the Mix is an awesome site for your sound guys/audio team. If you are a church leader and value excellence in all of your ministries you need to get this.

Imagine the best in audio giving your team tutorial and tips of how to better your worship ministry. Imagine having access to a group of the best audio techs on the plant at anytime. It does cost $20/mo or $200/yr, but it would be worth it for your team until they have developed.

It's Not Crap!

Spotlight: Streamzy

Posted by Unknown | 4:18 AM | , , , | 0 comments »

Streamzy is a free search engine, play-list creator, and prayer to stream full length audio clips from all of your favorite artist. Out of curiosity I did a search for songs by Hillsong/Hillsong United and found nearly every song I could ever want to listen to from them.

Practically: You or you Worship Leader could use Streamzy to create and share a play-list for your worship team. And the best part - it's legal!

Churchy Media and MuxTapes

The guys at ChurchyMedia are knocking the ball out of the park when it comes to their video podcast called Short Takes.

Below I embedded a Short Take on how worship teams can use MuxTape

Keep up the good work!

ProPresenter3

Posted by Anonymous | 4:38 AM | , | 0 comments »

For all those Churches that are looking for an upgrade from those power point presentations. Meet ProPresenter3.

ProPresenter is a lyric presentation system for churches and ministries. Created by Brad Weston while he was working on the "Production Team" for North Point Community Church, and it's the software their use for the Catalyst Conference.

I have a copy of the original release and version 3 is completely redesigned with some really cool features. You now have the ability to save Playlist from the worship service just like you would save an itunes playlist. There's "Dynamic Scripture Look Up", so any time your pastor strays from the notes you can look up the scripture and have it on screen in seconds. You can import all those old power point presentations, and it even supports keynote. There's view options, foregrounds, backgrounds, transitions, and you can even post announcements and let parents know when their child needs them in the nursery. These guys thought of everything!

Unfortunately it's not free, but they are pretty loose with their licensing agreements. And you can download a trial before you buy.

reThink Podcasts [part 3]

Posted by Unknown | 1:27 AM | , , | 1 comments »

None one likes re-runs:
Don't just podcast sermons,
create fresh new content

Reasons Why?

  • Fresh- unless your nationally known speaker or someone missed the worship service they aren't going to subscribe to your podcast to hear you talk for an hour. By creating new content you will give them incentive to subscribe.
  • Discipleship - make a short podcasts to further the sermon or call them to action. Or use podcast to distribute small group/house church videos for discussion.
  • Ministries - make short podcasts highlighting ministries and/or testimonies.
  • Events - promo events, concerts, do interviews, etc.
  • Free Music - have a musicians [in your church] give their songs away.
Tip: Get some young creative types to help you brainstorm ideas.

[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3]
---------------------------------------------------------
In what ways are you and your ministry reThinking how to use podcasts?

Summer projects are smacking around the Church 2.0 team - for a glimpse of how Kez is occupying his summer, just look at his blog! For me, it's just family stuff and my day job. So, the outcome has been a bit of a slow down on the blog here. Also, in case you missed it, the RSS feed for the last post was a little flaky, so you'll want to make sure you check out Remember the Milk.

Getting on to the point...

Planning Center Online is this really cool tool for planning worship services. Every now and again I use a tool and find myself thinking that the person/team behind this really knows the situation for which is was built. This is one such tool.

I'm not sure how to succinctly summarize this tool's features except to say that it does everything you'd hope that it would (sequence songs, and other elements of the service) as well as store mp3's, lyrics and other relevant attachments (paid version), schedule and email personnel according to their roles, track and report song usage, import song data from CCLI, and transpose chord charts (also on the paid version) - all on an online interface you can share with everyone involved in the planning and implementation of your church's worship services.

The basic version is free and very functional (this is what I'm presently using). Paid versions add some features and the ability to expand with more personnel and multiple ministries.

The Planning Center Team has done an above-average job with tutorials and walk-throughs of the app's features. Their "11-Minute Overview" explains it all pretty well in about, well, 11 minutes.

Online Resources: Media

These are a list of my favorites media websites for worship gatherings. Not necessarily the best sites, just my favorite. We, Church2.0, do not recieve kick-backs from these companies although we would gladly take them. Kidding!

Worship House Media is possibly the best site to start looking for videos because WHM offers videos from other media companies such as Floodgate, Igniter, Eleven72, and more.

Sermon Spice has some thought provoking stuff. If you are a fan of baseing your preaching/teachings off of movies that are popular, SS is the place for you. Currently the are giving away Spider Man 3 videos for free.

Highway Video is probably the most famous name in the media for churches scene. Not my favorite, but it has some good stuff.

QUICK TIP: Often videos sites give a video or two away for free. ChurchVideoIdeas.com does a great job of keeping up on who's giving out videos for free. I use his blog to keep an eye out for free videos.
